Assumptions & caveats (please read)
- Tax uses an approximate model of 2025/26 thresholds (frozen to 2026/27), England/Wales/NI: personal allowance £12,570 (tapered above £100k), 20/40/45% bands, employee NI 8%/2%. Scotland has different income tax bands.
- Not included: student loan repayments, benefits, tax-free childcare, bonuses, self-employed tax rules, salary-sacrifice differences.
- All costs are illustrative examples and vary by region, household, prices and inflation. Check real prices before deciding anything.
- Mortgages need a deposit, credit checks and affordability assessments; interest rates change. Car finance and insurance vary hugely by age and postcode — young drivers often pay much more.
- This is a learning tool, not financial advice, and does not promise any outcome. Earnings never define your worth.
